Sav-A-Life Shelby: the abortion pill is illegal in Alabama. Come in for a test and ultrasound.

Birmingham Christian Family Magazine reported on February 25, 2026 that Sav-A-Life Shelby Executive Director Bobby Lewis said women can go online and order the abortion pill, “even though it’s illegal here in Ala.” The center’s response, he said, is to reach those women before they make that decision.

Sav-A-Life Shelby added online appointment scheduling anytime for its two Women First Pregnancy Resource Centers in Pelham and Chelsea. When a woman arrives, she takes a pregnancy test, meets a client advocate, then sees a nurse who shares the test result, talks about options, and schedules an ultrasound. Demand at Chelsea had increased, so that clinic is now open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Volunteers serve as receptionists, client advocates, or in the Earn While You Learn Boutique, where women take classes, earn points, and buy needed baby items. The magazine pointed readers to savalifeshelby.org. Its photos were of the Chelsea Women First Pregnancy Center.
